Pakistan cricketers Shoaib Malik and Mohammad Rizwan paid tribute to legendary South African batter Hashim Amla, who retired from professional cricket on Wednesday.

"I have great memories of the Oval ground, and to finally leave it as a player fills me with immense gratitude for what has been," said Amla who played his last County season for Surrey recently.

Meanwhile, Malik and Rizwan took to Twitter to heap praise on Amla after the batter bid adieu to the game after representing South Africa in 124 Tests, 181 ODIs, and 44 T20Is during his glittering career.

Malik said Amla is one of the very few batters who are "calm and composed".

"I always enjoyed playing against you Hashim Amla. Enjoy your retirement brother, you have done an incredible job for your country!" the all-rounder wrote.

Meanwhile, Rizwan called the top-order batter "one of the greatest batsmen of all time" and wished him the best for his "second innings".

"You have been a great emissary for your country and a true role model for generations to come, both in and out of the ground," Rizwan wrote.

It should be mentioned here that Malik and Rizwan are currently participating in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) and representing Rangpur Riders and Comilla Victorians, respectively.
